The 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) was inaugurated today at the iconic Central Hall of the historic Samvidhan Sadan by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
On this significant occasion, Shri Om Birla, Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha, expressed his pleasure and noted that #CSPOC2026 reflects India’s rich parliamentary traditions, deep-rooted democratic ethos and its enduring commitment to strengthening parliamentary democracy, dialogue and cooperation among Commonwealth legislatures.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of H.E. Dr. Tulia Ackson, Hon’ble President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), H.E. Dr. Christopher Kalila, Hon’ble Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), along with Speakers and Presiding Officers from Commonwealth countries, marking this as a truly historic and globally significant parliamentary gathering.
